The pike is lazy and you will dramatically increase your chances to catch the pike if you present the bait as she wants it.

When the wind has been on hard in the same direction a few days, pike is gathering along the windward shore. Such days, fish from the shore, always throwing into the wind. This is extremely important! The pike is standing with her head turned towards the wind and current, and she moves back and forth along the windward shore as she searches for suitable prey. By spinning into the wind you get your bait to move with the wind against the shore and the pike. This means you approach the pike with the bait in the same manner and from the same direction as the natural prey fish approaches the pike.

This method is much more efficient and catch rewarding than staying outside the windward shore in a boat casting in the wind direction with the bait approaching the pike from behind.
